Dearly beloved in Christ,

Greetings

In one of his prayers, William Barclay said, "Help us in the cross to see the lengths to which Your love will go, that You loved us so much that You kept nothing back. Help us irkthe cross to see the horror of sin, and to depart for ever from it. Help us in the cross to see the wonder of love and to surrender for ever to it." Yes it is always true that the cross is the centre of our Christian faith. And without cross we cannot interpret our faith, as God desires.

Recently I happened to hear a message from a TV Evangelist. He says man is made for Sabbath, that means man is made for rest. So he need not toil or work. God has made everything for him. Oh what a super attraction for many! It is a very common phenomenon in the western hemisphere and it is, rapidly coming up in our situations also. In many of the western churches there are Easter celebrations in its peak, however on Good Fridays churches are locked. In the modern new generation Christianity, who wants cross? Who bothers about suffering? Wherever we go we hear about Christ the provider, or Christ the healer or Christ the miracle worker, or such other concepts. Unfortunately in ,many of such groups religion becomes a money making enterprise.

Our Guru Jesus was an honest person. He said whoever wants to follow him; he or she has to deny himself or herself and must be willing to take the cross. Cross is a syrn,bol of rejection and despise. It is symbol of pain and agony. And it is not only a symbol rather it is a reality and day-to-day experience for those who sincerely follow Christ. We must be ready to receive cross inour journey and we must be willing to opt sufferings for the sake of others. If we remove cross from the centre of Christianity and its teachings, it cannot be the Christianity what Christ expects.

Cross is the manifestation of love. God so loved the world that he gave his only son to us. Love is always linked with sacrifice. Jesus said the true disciple would be marked by one mark - their love for each other. Actually Jesus was summarizing all the laws into one and said the essence of Christianity is love. Jesus said, "by this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another'. The new command of Jesus is love one another as he loved us. So without this love we cannot be the disciples of Jesus. But unfortunately. many of us, after observing the Lenten season and Passion Week we continue the same old path of bitterness and enmity. If that is our case, we can be sure that Cross hasn't come as a real experience in our life. Paul says, Love is kind and not envious; it is patient and records no wrongs of others. The divine love forces us to be the channels of love in our relationships.

The Bishop has informed that I am transferred to Punnackad from May onwards and the Revd. Daniel George the Vicar of CSI Church Kanam will be the new Vicar. He has good theological and pastoral knowledge to serve this parish in a much better way. He served in Kerala and abroad. He was a faculty member of the KUT Seminary also. I am sure that his tenure will be a blessed and glorious PEiriod for Christ Church. Kindly uphold him also in your prayer.
